A former Clay County Jail employee is facing criminal charges after allegedly engaging in a romantic relationship with an inmate.
According to the Clay County Attorney’s Office, 23-year-old Chloe Nord, of Fargo, was arrested over the weekend. Authorities say Nord had an ongoing relationship with an inmate between November 2024 and January 2025, exchanging messages and engaging in inappropriate physical contact while he was incarcerated.
The inmate told investigators that he and Nord planned to continue their relationship after his release. Initially, Nord denied physical contact but later admitted to it, saying she “fell under his spell.”
Nord left her position at the Clay County Jail and briefly worked as an officer with the Grand Forks Police Department before her arrest.
