A Fergus Falls woman has been arrested after allegedly threatening her son and his girlfriend with a gun during a domestic dispute over the weekend.
According to Otter Tail County prosecutors, 46-year-old Tami Hendershot was taken into custody Sunday morning (March 9th) after an argument inside her home escalated. Hendershot told deputies that the night before, she had used a racial slur that upset her son’s girlfriend. The next morning, she and her son began arguing again when the girlfriend entered Hendershot’s room.
Deputies say Hendershot struck the girlfriend, who hit back. That’s when Hendershot allegedly grabbed a gun and, according to the girlfriend, said, “I’m going to shoot you.” The son managed to wrestle the firearm away before anything further happened. Hendershot claims the gun was not loaded.
Hendershot was booked into the Otter Tail County Detention Facility and made her first court appearance Monday morning (March 10th). She faces charges of Threats of Violence and Assault.
This incident is being handled by the Otter Tail County Attorney’s Office and was reported by Otter Tail County Sheriff’s Deputies.
