The Laker girls’ basketball team was defeated in the section quarterfinals on Thursday night at Little Falls High School, with a final score of 58-37. The Lakers managed to keep the game close until the late stages when Karlee Mace fouled out, having scored 15 points. The Flyers took a 25-17 lead at halftime, thanks to a balanced scoring effort, with six players contributing in the first half.
The Lakers began the second half on a strong note, narrowing the deficit to just 3 points with the score at 25-22. Malin Youngberg led the Flyers with 18 points in their victory, while Ehlin Youngberg added another 11 points. With the win, the Flyers advance to the section semifinals, where they will face Alexandria on Saturday at 2 PM.
The Lakers will be losing four seniors from this year’s team: Everlee Grimm, Lila Kallstrom, Jadyn Wimmer, and Karlee Mace.
