Stolen Truck from Fergus Falls Tied to Pierz ATM Theft; Similar Cases Under Investigation

Feb 28, 2025 | 6:13 AM

PAuthorities are investigating a string of attempted ATM thefts across Minnesota, with the latest incident unfolding Monday night in Pierz.
According to the Morrison County Sheriff’s Office, suspects targeted the Farmers & Merchants State Bank around 11:16 p.m. on February 24. The suspects used a stolen truck from Fergus Falls to pull an ATM off its foundation with a chain. Before they could load the machine, they abandoned the scene and took off in a newer-model light-colored SUV.
Law enforcement believes three individuals were involved: two at the ATM and a third driving the getaway vehicle.
Similar incidents have been reported in Pelican Rapids and Crookston in the past week, and investigators are working to determine if the crimes are connected.
The Morrison County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s help. Anyone with surveillance footage between 10:30 p.m. and 11:30 p.m. on Monday night in the area is urged to call 320-632-9233.
This case remains under investigation.
