Feb 25, 2025 | 6:38 AM

West Central Initiative (WCI) is now accepting applications for its Spring 2025 grant cycle, focusing on projects that promote sustainability, equity, and civic engagement within the region. Nonprofit organizations and community groups are encouraged to apply by Monday, March 24, at 5 p.m.
Rebecca Lynn Petersen, WCI’s Director of Development, emphasized the significance of these grants: “Sustainability, equity, and civic engagement are essential pillars for our communities. We created our West Central Initiative Grants with those priorities in mind.”
Grant Categories:
• Sustainability Grants: Support for community-led projects focusing on sustainability and climate action.
• Equity Grants: Assistance for organizations working to support historically marginalized populations and promote regional equity.
• Civic Engagement Grants: Funding for nonpartisan groups aiming to drive social change, cultivate local leadership, educate communities about governmental systems, and encourage public participation.
Applicants may submit a single application encompassing multiple focus areas. Most grants will range from $3,000 to $10,000, with a maximum request of $25,000. Funds can be used for general operating expenses or specific projects but cannot cover expenses incurred before grant approval or activities related to religious practices, lobbying, or political campaigns.
Informational Webinars:
To assist potential applicants, WCI will host two webinars:
• Tuesday, March 4, at 2 p.m.
• Thursday, March 6, at 6 p.m.
These sessions will provide details on eligibility, the application process, and include a Q&A segment. Registration is required and can be completed on WCI’s website.
