It’s not often you see Becker County law enforcement competing against each other—but in February, it’s all in good fun and for a great cause. The Annual Battle of the Badges is in full swing, with officers from the Becker County Sheriff’s Office, Detroit Lakes Police Department, Frazee Police Department, and Lake Park Police Department squaring off—not with badges and citations, but with cash and gift cards.
Their mission? Stocking care closets in local schools to provide essential items for students in need. Donations collected through February 28 will be distributed to Audubon, Detroit Lakes, Frazee, Lake Park, Ogema, and Pine Point schools.
Supporters can drop off cash or gift cards at:
• Audubon City Hall
• Becker County Jail
• Detroit Lakes Police Department
• Frazee City Office
• Lake Park City Hall
And to keep things interesting, bragging rights are on the line—the department that raises the most funds takes home the Battle of the Badges traveling trophy. Will the sheriff’s office outmatch city law enforcement? Or will one of the local PDs rise to the occasion?
No matter who wins, the real victory belongs to the students who will benefit from this generosity.
