A 39-year-old man from Sauk Centre died Saturday night after his snowmobile crashed into an unoccupied fish house on Two Inlets Lake in northeastern Becker County, according to the Becker County Sheriff’s Office.
The victim, Benjamin James Hellerman, was riding alone when the crash occurred.
Incident Details
• The Becker County Sheriff’s Office received a call at 9:30 p.m. on Feb. 15, reporting that a snowmobile had collided with a fish house and that the driver was not breathing.
• Emergency responders performed life-saving measures, but Hellerman was pronounced dead at the scene.
• Investigators say two snowmobiles were riding across the lake when the second rider noticed that Hellerman was no longer following behind.
• The second rider went back and found that Hellerman had struck the fish house.
The incident remains under investigation.
