A Lake Park man has been sentenced in Becker County District Court for felony domestic assault and felony property damage, following two separate violent incidents in 2024.
Treyton Jorge Edwards, 20, was convicted of assaulting multiple victims and causing significant property damage in May and June of last year.
According to court records, on May 18, 2024, Edwards became angry after another man gave his girlfriend a ride home. He texted her that he would break the man’s windows, then punched and broke the vehicle’s mirror—causing $1,261 in damage. During the same incident, he pushed his girlfriend against a shed and grabbed her wrists. Another woman, who tried to intervene, was pushed to the ground and later treated for bruised ribs and difficulty breathing.
Then, on June 22, 2024, Edwards was involved in another domestic assault at the Holiday Gas Station in Detroit Lakes. Police say he hit a woman in the face, twisted her arm, and broke the side mirror off her vehicle. When officers attempted to arrest him, he kicked at officers, spat in their faces, and bent the squad car’s bars and door frame.
In court, Edwards pleaded guilty to felony first-degree property damage and felony domestic assault. He was sentenced to:
• 15 months in prison (stayed five years) on the property damage charge, with 75 days in jail and credit for 26 days served.
• 21 months in prison (stayed five years) for felony assault.
• Two additional felony fourth-degree assault charges resulted in 15-month and 16-month prison sentences, both stayed three years.
Edwards must complete domestic abuse and mental health evaluations, follow all treatment recommendations, and comply with cognitive behavioral intervention programs as part of five years of supervised probation.
