A 27-year-old rural Detroit Lakes woman, Alexandria Rose Burley, is facing felony child endangerment charges after her 3-year-old son was found with severe bruising and a fractured skull.
Detroit Lakes police responded to a preschool on Sept. 23, 2024, after staff reported concerns about the child’s injuries. According to medical evaluations, the boy had multiple bruises in different stages of healing, a possible spinal injury, and signs of neglect, including exposure to THC.
During an investigation, Burley initially denied knowledge of the injuries but later admitted to knocking the child off the porch while drinking. A search warrant led authorities to question her boyfriend, Travis Iverson, who denied harming the child but claimed Burley had been intoxicated.
Burley posted $500 bail on Jan. 29 and was released with conditions, including no alcohol, drug use, or contact with the child. Her next court appearance is scheduled for Feb. 24 before District Judge Michelle W. Lawson.
