Minnesota State Senator Nicole Mitchell, representing Woodbury, faces an additional felony charge in connection with an alleged burglary at her stepmother’s Detroit Lakes residence in April 2024. Initially charged with first-degree burglary, Mitchell is now also accused of possessing burglary or theft tools, specifically a blue crowbar allegedly used to gain entry into the home.

According to court documents, Detroit Lakes police responded to a burglary report on April 22, 2024, around 4:45 a.m. The homeowner reported discovering an intruder, later identified as Mitchell, in the basement. Mitchell allegedly stated she was attempting to retrieve items belonging to her late father. Law enforcement officers reported finding a flashlight with a black sock covering it and noted that Mitchell had removed her shoes and placed them near or under a couch.
