The Laker boys’ hockey team lost to the Bemidji Lumberjacks at home on Tuesday night, with a final score of 4-2. The Lumberjacks took the lead late in the first period when Nick Johnson scored the game’s first goal. Bemidji added two more goals in the second period, as Joey Fankhanel found the back of the net twice, with the goals coming just 27 seconds apart.

Entering the third period down 3-0, the Lakers watched as Dawson Schoonover extended the Lumberjacks’ lead to four goals. However, rather than giving up, the Lakers maintained their solid effort and were rewarded when Easton Kennedy scored less than two minutes after Bemidji’s fourth goal. The Lakers managed to score again late in the game while shorthanded, with Easton Wahl netting their second goal.

The loss extends the Lakers’ losing streak to five games and brings their season record to 8-12-2. They will look to bounce back on Thursday when they travel to Little Falls. Meanwhile, Bemidji improves their record to 15-5-1.
