Between January and October 2024, authorities in Minnesota found 199 pounds of illegal cannabis flower being sold in stores, with an estimated value of $607,000, according to a report from MPR News.
The illicit cannabis was destroyed, and four stores were fined $10,000 each in civil penalties. This comes as the state continues to finalize its licensing process for legal cannabis sales.
Businesses interested in obtaining a cannabis license have until January 30, 2025, to apply. A general licensing lottery is expected to take place in May or June.
The state is working to streamline regulations to ensure compliance while addressing the growing market for legalized cannabis.
