Lake Region Electric Cooperative CEO Tim Thompson will step down from his role in February to lead Crow Wing Power in Brainerd.
Thompson, who has been with LREC since 2007 and served as CEO for 17 years, will officially leave his position on February 27. Under his leadership, the cooperative grew to serve more than 28,000 members across Otter Tail, Wilkin, Grant, Douglas, Clay, and Becker counties. Thompson focused on providing reliable energy, advocating for cooperative governance, and fostering community engagement through events like the Boo Bash Halloween Party and Member Appreciation events.
LREC’s Board of Directors plans to appoint an interim CEO while they search for a permanent replacement. Both Thompson and the Board are committed to a smooth leadership transition, prioritizing the cooperative’s members during this change.
The Board expressed deep gratitude for Thompson’s years of dedicated service and wished him the best in his new role as CEO of Crow Wing Power.
