FSIS Issues Public Health Alert for Ground Beef Contamination

By Trish Johnson Jan 7, 2025 | 6:55 AM

The USDA has issued a public health alert regarding frozen, raw ground beef products that could be potentially contaminated with hard plastic and metal.

The alert concerns one-pound vacuum-sealed packages labeled “Turner Farm” and “Stockyards Packing Company Ground Beef,” with lot code 241210. The product, produced on December 10, 2024, bears the establishment number “EST. M2035” and was shipped to Turner Farm in Cincinnati, Ohio.

The contamination was discovered after a consumer reported finding plastic and metal in the product. No injuries or illnesses have been confirmed, but the USDA advises consumers to check their freezers and discard or return the product if purchased.

Consumers with questions can contact Andy Korb, owner of Stockyards Packing Co. LLC, at 513-312-0648 or andy.korb@theyardsOH.com. Food safety questions can also be directed to the USDA Meat and Poultry Hotline at 888-674-6854 or the online Electronic Consumer Complaint Monitoring System.
