The Laker girls’ basketball team fell on their home court on Thursday night to the Willmar Cardinals, 51-33. The Lakers struggled offensively against a more experienced Willmar Cardinals team as the Lakers lost their seventh game of the season. Detroit Lakes was led offensively by Karlee Mace, who finished the game with 14 points. The Cardinals had two players in double figures, with Madison Molacek leading the Cardinals with 13 points, and Isley Ripperger scoring 12 points.
The loss drops the Lakers’ record to 3-7 on the year, and they are now 2-4 in section games. The Cardinals’ win improves their record to 5-6 on the year, and they are now 2-1 in section games. The Lakers will look to bounce back on Saturday when they travel to Albany.
