Local authorities are reporting an uptick in citations for underage drinking across Becker County and the surrounding areas. In the past month, several minors have been caught violating local ordinances related to alcohol consumption, prompting law enforcement to issue a public reminder about the dangers of underage drinking.
The Becker County Sheriff’s Office noted that officers have been conducting proactive patrols around local parks, beaches, and event venues where young people are more likely to congregate. Sheriff’s Office spokesperson, Amanda Larson, urges parents to be aware of where their children are and who they are with, as well as to discuss the consequences of underage drinking.
The local government is considering increased enforcement measures, including partnering with schools for awareness campaigns, to curb the rise in citations. Officials stress that keeping alcohol out of the hands of minors is a top priority in order to ensure the safety of the community.
