Sprint Paramedic Pilot Program Launching in Otter Tail and Grant Counties

Dec 10, 2024 | 7:25 AM

A new Sprint Paramedic Pilot Program will bring quicker medical care to rural communities in Otter Tail and Grant Counties.

The program, funded by a $2.7 million state medical service aid package, will deploy up to three rapid response units staffed by paramedics. These units will provide care at emergency scenes before ambulances arrive, addressing gaps in rural response times.

Seven first responder organizations, including Perham Area EMS and Ringdahl EMS, are partnering on this effort. Henning Ambulance, Ashby Ambulance, and Lake Region Ambulance in Elbow Lake are also part of the collaboration.

The program is set to launch in early 2025 and will operate through June 2027. Officials will use this time to gather data and assess whether the model could expand statewide.

The goal is to improve emergency care in underserved areas, ensuring faster and more reliable medical assistance for rural residents.
