Commissioner pay in Becker County will increase from $27,829 to $31,952 annually, starting Jan. 1, 2025—a 15% increase. The raise approved unanimously on Dec. 3, follows a wage study comparing salaries across 14 Minnesota counties, which found Becker County near the bottom.
The vice-chair will earn $33,152, and the chair $34,352, with leadership roles rotating among members. Longevity pay will be eliminated, meaning longer-serving commissioners won’t see larger increases.
By comparison, Otter Tail County commissioners approved a 3.5% increase, bringing their pay to $45,499.
The wage adjustment aligns with Becker County’s efforts to bring all employee salaries closer to market rates, including significant raises for the sheriff, county attorney, and auditor-treasurer.
