Former Cass County Sheriff’s Deputy, 26-year-old Carson Quam, has been charged with ten felony counts of possession of child sexual abuse material. A warrant has been issued for his arrest.
The charges follow the North Dakota Bureau of Criminal Investigation (BCI) investigation, which began in September. During the investigation, BCI agents discovered ten illicit images on Quam’s phone.
Quam resigned from the Cass County Sheriff’s Office on September 17, amid the ongoing investigation. At that time, Sheriff Jesse Jahner stated that the department was unaware of any criminal activity involving Quam and chose not to release information earlier to maintain the integrity of the active investigation.
The state’s attorneys’ offices in Cass and Grand Forks counties are reviewing the case to determine the appropriate course of action.
As of now, Quam has not been taken into custody. Authorities are urging anyone with information on his whereabouts to contact local law enforcement.
