A Busy Week for Area Law Enforcement

By Trish Johnson Nov 19, 2024 | 6:59 AM

These are some of the calls local law enforcement attended to in the last week.

  1.  A caller at a business on Frazee Street East, Detroit Lakes, reported a man in the parking lot approaching employees and making them uncomfortable as they came into work. When officers approached the man, he left.
  2.  A caller at an East Shore Drive, Detroit Lakes, residence reported a man who had come to their house and began rambling about various topics. The man is believed to be the same person approaching employees in a Detroit Lakes business’s parking lot hours earlier.

A caller reported that a Frazee man had been scammed out of $6,000. The victim made payments to the scammer through Apple Pay and WhatsApp. No bank account information was compromised, and the victim’s bank also stopped them from withdrawing more cash.

  •  A caller at a residence on County Highway 21, Callaway, reported that a black vehicle drove by and fired a gun three times out the window toward a field. Law enforcement did not locate the vehicle.

The caller reported a scam in which a Frazee man was scammed out of approximately $4,000 via a fake Instagram account. The victim sent $2,000 over Cash App and another $2,000 with gift cards.

The caller reported finding a baggie with a suspicious substance in it on East Frazee Street, Detroit Lakes. The caller wanted law enforcement to dispose of the baggie.

The theft was reported at a County Highway 5, Pelican Rapids, business when a man was seen dumpster diving. The man was taking expired food and cleaning supplies. Law enforcement located the man, who said he was taking the food to feed his pigs. The man claimed to have permission from the business’s manager, though he could not remember their name.
