A stunning piece of history has been uncovered in Ulen, Minnesota: a quilt dating back to 1769, making it one of the oldest in America. Originally part of a wedding skirt, the quilt was crafted in colonial New Jersey, years before the Revolutionary War, using linen made from farm-grown flax and wool batting.
The quilt was handed down through generations before being donated to the Ulen Museum, where its significance was recently identified. Textile experts from North Dakota State University confirmed its origins, solidifying its status as a historical treasure.
Now proudly displayed at the Ulen Museum, the quilt offers visitors a rare glimpse into early American life, its survival a testament to the craftsmanship of the 18th century.
