DNR Update: Deer Season Information and Invasive Species Alert

By Trish Johnson Nov 5, 2024 | 8:02 AM

The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources has provided updates on deer harvest tracking and an alert regarding invasive species.

For hunters, the DNR’s deer reports and statistics page now features real-time deer harvest data. Archery season continues through December 31, and firearms “A” season kicks off on Saturday, November 9, with closing dates depending on the hunter’s Deer Permit Area. Muzzleloader season is set for November 30 to December 15. Hunters can also access interactive maps and charts to stay informed on harvest trends.

Meanwhile, the DNR has confirmed zebra mussels in Eagle Lake in Sherburne County. A dead mussel was initially found in 2021, but recent checks revealed live zebra mussels attached to a dock wheel. The DNR is urging residents to thoroughly inspect and decontaminate boats, docks, and all water-related equipment to prevent the spread of these invasive species. State law requires docks and lifts to be kept out of the water for at least 21 days before moving them to new locations.
