Grand Forks police responded to a tense situation Sunday evening involving an armed man, believed to be suicidal, near the Kennedy Bridge. Authorities say the man was intoxicated and carrying a handgun when they arrived, and they heard a gunshot from the area. A drone team located the man, and after hours of negotiations, officers were able to safely take him into custody.

The man was transported to Altru Hospital for mental health treatment. No charges have been filed, and police are not releasing further details due to the nature of the call.
