Fall is Here! It is SweaterPlant time in the DL Area

A significant overnight frost impacted much of Minnesota, including the Detroit Lakes area, as temperatures dipped to near or below freezing early this morning. A freeze warning was in effect for most of western Minnesota, with temperatures as low as **29-32°F**. This frost will have effects on sensitive outdoor plants, and late-season crops, and could pose challenges for hunters, especially those preparing for deer or pheasant hunting in the region. Farmers may experience delays in harvesting, particularly for corn and soybeans, though most crops had already matured before this cold snap.

For gardeners, the frost is a reminder to protect any remaining plants or harvest what’s left before the colder conditions persist. While hunting activities may continue, cooler temperatures might shift wildlife behavior, with animals moving differently as they adapt to the colder conditions. Warmer temperatures are expected to return by the weekend, helping both agriculture and outdoor activities to resume at a more normal pace.
