On Friday, October 4th, at approximately 6:20 p.m., Otter Tail County Dispatch responded to a report of a potential collision involving a train and a motor vehicle near County Highway 17 and Candor Hall Road in Vergas. Upon arrival, authorities found that the driver, Frank Vana, 69, of Vergas, was uninjured. His vehicle sustained only minor damage.
The Canadian Pacific Kansas City Railway locomotives involved in the incident also sustained minor damages, and no injuries were reported from the train crew. Alcohol is not believed to be a factor, and the incident is currently being investigated by the Canadian Pacific Railway Police Department.
