The Hawley Nuggets went on the road to Park Rapids in a Friday night Football on September 27th. Park Rapids received the opening kick and return it to the Hawley 37. On the first offensive play of the game, the Panthers fumbled the ball to Hawley. Neither team looked good in the First Quarter, as both teams went scoreless. Hawley scored the first TD of the game on a Noah Nelson 16 yard TD run. Nico Lomanto kicked the extra point and the Nuggets lead 7-0. Hawley added another Noah nelson run, 4yards out, but missed the extra point and lead 13-0, with less than 4 minutes left in the first half. On the next drive the Panthers got stripped sack, they recovered the fumble in the end zone, but that gave Hawley a Safety, to go up 15-0. On the Kickoff, Park Rapids fumbled the ball back to Hawley and Noah Nelson hit Lincoln Midthun on a 8tard pass, to take a 21-0 lead with 1:57 left in the First Half….but Park Rapids went down the field and scored on the Final play of the half, to get to within 21-7 at the Half, as Carter Hirt hit Ryan Carrol for a 12yard TD pass. The Second began with Hawley receiving the ball, but did not score. The Panther then scored to make it 21-14, before Hawley’s QB Noah Nelson hit Receiver Levi Lelm on a 92 yard TD pass to regain a 28-14 lead. Hawley went up by 20 with a 4yard TD run from Noah Nelson, to put the Nuggets up 34-14. Park rapids wasn’t done, scoring twice in about a 3min span to make it 34-28, with 2:16 left in the game. Park Rapids used their 3 timeouts, which left needing just a First Down to finish off the game. Noah Nelson took a sneak to get the First Down and seal a Wild and Wackey contest. Hawley improves to 3-2, Park Rapids falls to 3-2. Hawley stays on the road, next Friday (October 4th) at Pelican Rapids at 7pm. Park Rapids goes to Barnesville. Noah Nelson was named the Muscatell Burns Ford MVP of the game, with 5 total Touchdowns (3-running and 2-passes)
