Donald Merrill Jr., a 25-year-old from Vergas, pleaded guilty to 1st Degree Burglary for breaking into Billy’s Corner Bar & Grill in March 2024 and stealing a handgun that was displayed as a raffle prize. Surveillance footage captured Merrill smashing the front window and taking the firearm. His Ford Ranger was identified, leading authorities to his residence where they recovered the gun. Merrill admitted to making an “impulse decision” after seeing the firearm. He will be sentenced on November 4th.
