DL Volleyball Battles Tough Against Moorhead

Detroit Lakes , MN (KDLM)-

Fresh off of two wins in a tournament over the weekend against some of the best teams in the state, the Laker Volleyball team traveled to Moorhead on Tuesday night to take on the Spuds. The Spuds, who had a 7-2 record entering the match, fought hard and defeated the Lakers 3-1.

In the first set, Detroit Lakes fell behind 12-4 but managed to come from behind and win 25-23, taking a 1-0 lead in the match. Moorhead rebounded in the second set, leading most of the way and winning 25-18. The third set was a close battle, with Detroit Lakes tying the score at 21-21, but Moorhead pulled ahead and won 25-21. The fourth set was the most exciting of the night. Detroit Lakes led 22-17, but Moorhead came back to tie the set at 24-24. After trading points, Moorhead won the set 30-28.

The loss dropped the Lakers’ record to 3-8 overall. They will return to action in a tournament in Hopkins this weekend. The Spuds improved to 8-2 overall and will participate in a tournament in Apple Valley this weekend.
