Detroit Lakes , MN (KDLM)-

The Laker football team had their first defeat of the season, losing a tough game at home against the Fergus Falls Otters. The Lakers, who had started the season with a strong 2-0 record, couldn’t keep up with the Otter offense, which took an early lead after the Lakers turned the ball over on downs in their own territory. Fergus Falls’ quarterback Henry Bethel led the charge, throwing for four touchdowns and rushing for one. The Lakers struggled against the relentless pressure of the Otter defense, making it difficult to gain ground. Despite this, Laker quarterback Caden Strand managed to pass for two touchdowns, one to Elijah Wychoff and the other to Nick Buboltz. Strand also rushed for a touchdown.

This loss brings the Lakers’ record to 2-1 for the season. They will be hitting the road next week to face off against Thief River Falls. The Otters, are now 3-0 and will return home to take on East Grand Forks. Catch Laker football next week on KDLM with pregame coverage at Thief River Falls beginning at 6:30 pm.
