A 74-year-old man, Mathew John Mess from rural Frazee, tragically passed away after a single-vehicle crash in Becker County yesterday. The Becker County Sheriff’s Office reported that the crash occurred on County Highway 56 near Little Toad Lake. Mess was driving westbound when his Chevrolet Trailblazer left the road, rolled into a ditch, and struck a power pole. Despite life-saving efforts, Mess was pronounced dead at the scene.
The accident remains under investigation, and authorities have not yet confirmed whether alcohol played a role in the crash. Several local emergency services, including the Detroit Lakes and Frazee Fire Departments, Frazee Rescue, and Essentia-St. Mary’s EMS, responded to the scene.
