Martin Guthrie Seeger, 40, of Waubun, has been sentenced in Becker County District Court for felony fleeing a peace officer following a high-speed chase on Highway 59.
On August 2, 2023, a state trooper in Richwood Township clocked Seeger’s Volkswagen Passat traveling 95 mph in a 60-mph zone. Despite the trooper activating his emergency lights and siren, Seeger continued northbound at a high rate of speed, even turning on his hazard lights and waving his arms out of the window, seemingly to signal the trooper to pass.
The chase continued until Seeger slowed down to 70 mph and eventually pulled into the Arco parking lot in Callaway, where he was arrested.
On June 24, District Judge Gretchen Thilmony issued a statutory stay of adjudication. If Seeger successfully completes two years of unsupervised probation, the charge will be dismissed. He served two days in jail, for which he received credit, and was not fined.
