Robert James Azure Sr., 49, of rural Naytahwaush, is facing felony charges of second-degree and third-degree burglary in Becker County District Court.
According to court records, on July 11, Becker County sheriff’s officers responded to a residence in Rochert around 4 a.m. after security cameras, installed just the day before, captured two men entering the garage. Additional footage showed the men carrying items, including a television, from the home.
Officers arrived within 15 minutes and found several items missing. While at the scene, they noticed a vehicle slowing near the end of the driveway before speeding away. The vehicle was later stopped, and the female driver revealed that she had been contacted by Azure and another man around 4:15 a.m. to pick them up in the area.
Around six hours later, Azure and his accomplice were found walking along County Road 26, approximately 5 miles from the residence. Both men were soaked, and their clothing matched the footage from the security cameras.
A search of the area near the residence uncovered several stolen items, including a Samsung TV, fireworks, tools, a hoverboard, backpacks, and a flashlight. The homeowner’s son identified the items as property stolen from the home. Additionally, a pair of eyeglasses, matching those Azure wore in a prior booking photo, was recovered.
Azure was taken into custody, and on July 12, his bail was set at $20,000 with no conditions. A bond option of $5,000 or $500 with conditions, including no trespassing at the burglary site, was also offered. He posted the $500 bail on August 28 and was released.
His next court appearance is scheduled for September 16 before District Court Judge Elizabeth V. Cutter.
