**Becker County Pedestrian Accident Leaves One Dead**

A tragic accident occurred yesterday around 12:15 p.m. on Randolph Road in Detroit Lakes, leading to the death of an 81-year-old local man. The incident happened just east of the intersection with Highland Drive when a westbound passenger car collided with a pedestrian on the roadway.

 

Emergency services, including the Becker County Sheriff’s Office, Minnesota State Patrol, Essentia Health – St. Mary’s EMS, Detroit Lakes Fire Department, and Detroit Lakes Public Works, responded promptly to the scene. The pedestrian, an 81-year-old man from Detroit Lakes, was pronounced dead shortly after the accident. The driver of the vehicle, identified as a 19-year-old female from rural Detroit Lakes, was also on the scene.

 

During the emergency response and investigation, the road was closed for approximately three hours. Authorities have stated that the investigation remains active, and no further information is available at this time regarding the cause of the accident or any potential charges.
