Casey William Kroll, 44, of Fargo, has been sentenced in Becker County District Court for gross misdemeanor theft. Kroll was caught in a fenced area behind R&G Subaru in Detroit Lakes in January 2022 with tools and stolen copper wire, attempting to steal a catalytic converter. The total value of stolen items and damages exceeded $10,000. He was sentenced to 364 days in jail, with most of the time stayed, and ordered to pay over $8,200 in restitution, fines, and fees.
Kroll also faced charges for stealing three catalytic converters in August 2021 from Outlet Recreation, resulting in another 364-day jail sentence, largely stayed, and nearly $7,500 in restitution.
