In West Fargo, the investigation continues into the fatal shooting that occurred in the parking lot of Prairie Heights Community Church on Saturday morning, August 17th. The incident resulted in the death of 25-year-old Austin Strom of Browerville, Minnesota.

Authorities have provided more details about the event. According to the West Fargo Police, Strom was reportedly trying to break into the church when he was confronted by 66-year-old Kent Hodges, a member of the church. Strom allegedly became aggressive and began attacking Hodges. At that point, another church member, 53-year-old Don Barron II, intervened and shot Strom with his handgun. Strom was transported to a local hospital, where he later died. Hodges sustained severe but non-life-threatening injuries.

No charges have been filed against Barron, but the investigation is ongoing. The Cass County State’s Attorney’s Office will review the case to determine if any charges will be brought forward.

This incident has sparked concerns within the community, with residents questioning the actions taken and the implications of the lack of immediate charges against Barron. Authorities have emphasized the need to thoroughly review all details, including the possibility of self-defense, before making any decisions on charges.

Community members are encouraged to share any information or surveillance footage they may have from the area around the time of the incident to assist in the ongoing investigation.
