In a separate case, Christian James Anderson, 19, of Detroit Lakes, has been sentenced for his involvement in a drive-by shooting incident that occurred on July 10, 2023, at Peoples Park in Detroit Lakes. Anderson and three other young men were charged after they used BB and pellet guns to shoot at vehicles and people in the park. The attack left two vehicles damaged, with numerous pellets fired at them.

On June 26, Anderson was sentenced by District Judge Michael D. Fritz. Anderson received a stay of adjudication on the charges of second-degree riot armed with a dangerous weapon and third-degree damage to property. As part of his sentence, Anderson was given 120 days in jail, with 90 days stayed for five years, and was allowed to serve the remaining 30 days on electronic home monitoring. He was also fined $550, ordered to pay $5,826 in restitution, and placed on supervised probation for five years. Successful completion of probation will result in the dismissal of the charges against him.
