Get ready for a day of endurance and excitement as the annual Young Life Triathlon kicks off this Saturday, starting at 8 a.m. at Detroit Lakes’ City Park. Athletes of all levels can participate in various divisions, including Sprint, Olympic, Relay, and Paddleboard/Kayak.
Participants can choose from the following:
– **Sprint:** 500-meter swim, 12.4-mile bike ride, and 2.92-mile run.
– **Olympic:** 1.5-kilometer swim, 40k bike ride, and 10K run.
– **Relay:** Teams can complete the Sprint or Olympic course with different people tackling each leg.
– **Paddleboard/Kayak:** Replace the swim with a 2K paddle or kayak, then proceed with the Sprint or Olympic distances for the bike and run.
Athlete check-in begins at 6:30 a.m., followed by a mandatory pre-race meeting at 7:40 a.m. on the City Beach, where the swim, paddle, or kayak leg will start. The event continues with the bike ride and concludes with the run.
