A Fergus Falls woman is facing serious charges after allegedly hitting her boyfriend with her car during a heated argument on Saturday afternoon, August 10th. According to police, the incident occurred at approximately 12:56 PM in a parking lot.

Court documents reveal that the couple, 30-year-old Veronica Roleen Gast and the victim, were on their way to therapy to work on their relationship when a disagreement escalated. The couple had reportedly been arguing throughout the day, and the victim, feeling that the relationship was irreparable, asked Gast to take him back to their residence. Instead, Gast stopped the car in a traffic lane and demanded that the victim exit the vehicle.

As the victim walked in front of the car towards the sidewalk, he alleges that Gast locked eyes with him before accelerating and striking him with the vehicle. The victim turned his body away, went over the hood, and hit the windshield with his back, shattering it. He sustained a laceration to his right elbow.

In her statement to officers, Gast confirmed that the couple had been arguing and that she had pulled over when the argument escalated. She claimed that as the victim began walking towards the sidewalk, she attempted to drive away, believing he would stay on the sidewalk. However, she admitted to hitting the victim with her car, though she denied making eye contact before doing so. Gast stated that she did not stop immediately due to shock but eventually let off the gas.

Gast was arrested and taken to the Otter Tail County Detention Facility. She is now facing charges of 2nd Degree Assault, among other lesser charges.
