Zebra mussels have been confirmed in Buffalo Lake near Richwood, Becker County. The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources (DNR) identified the invasive species after a property owner reported finding one attached to a snail. Another was later found on a dock wheel at the public access. The DNR has informed the White Earth Nation, that the lake’s northern bay extends into their territory. Residents and visitors are reminded to clean, drain, and dry their watercraft to prevent the spread of aquatic invasive species. For more details, visit the DNR website.
