Our neighbors to the west, Bismarck, Mandan, and surrounding areas, are dealing with the aftermath of a recent hailstorm and need to be cautious of scammers. The North Dakota State Insurance Commissioner’s office issued a public service announcement warning about common scams. Indicators include claims of being FEMA-approved, demanding upfront payments, and discouraging communication with your insurance company.
“These scammers use high-pressure tactics,” said Commissioner Jon Godfread. He advises residents to be wary of unsolicited offers for repairs and to consult their insurance company for reputable contractor recommendations. There have already been reports of potential scams.
