An important community event is happening tomorrow and we are all invited to attend. The White Earth Nation Inauguration is set for Tuesday, at noon, at the Shooting Star Casino in Mahnomen, Minnesota. Doors will open at 11 a.m., so be sure to arrive early.
Chairman Michael Fairbanks and District III Representative Laura Lee Erickson will be sworn into office during the event. Chairman Fairbanks secured his position by defeating Eugene “Umsy” Tibbetts in the June 11th election, with a vote count of 1,155 to 909. He’s no stranger to leadership, having been elected during a Special Election in 2019 and re-elected in 2020.
District III Representative Laura Lee Erickson also triumphed in the election, defeating incumbent Cheryl “Annie” Jackson with 595 votes to 441.
Both positions are four-year terms, marking a significant moment for the community. If you can’t attend in person, don’t worry!
