Minnesota Reports First Human Case of West Nile Virus This Summer

State health officials have confirmed Minnesota’s first human case of West Nile virus for this summer. The case was confirmed on Friday and reported to the CDC on Monday. While West Nile virus had already been detected in mosquitoes in Anoka County, this is the first human infection in the state. Additionally, North Dakota has reported one human case, and South Dakota has reported two. No cases have been reported in Iowa or Wisconsin.
