The family of Sterling Buchholz, the 24-year-old man who nearly drowned in Little Detroit Lake on July 6th, is asking for help as he embarks on a long road to recovery. After being found by a human chain of rescuers without a heartbeat, Sterling was rushed to the hospital where his condition has improved from critical to stable, and he is now breathing on his own. Despite this progress, all his organs have been compromised, necessitating extensive therapy for full recovery.
Sterling’s mother is taking time off work to be with him, resulting in both of them being out of work for some time. The family has expressed deep gratitude for the quick actions of the concerned citizens, the Becker County Sheriff’s Office, St. Mary’s EMT, and Essentia Hospital for their roles in saving Sterling’s life, as well as the support from prayer groups, family, and friends.
