Minnesota might soon see an influx of common earwigs, following trends in nearby states. These insects, usually found in late summer, are not native to Minnesota but have been present for over 30 years. The University of Minnesota Extension describes earwigs as about 5/8 inch long with a reddish-brown body and pinchers on their abdomen. While they look intimidating, they do not harm people, property, or food, and their pinchers are generally not strong enough to hurt humans.
