The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources has reported the presence of the Lone Star Tick in 35 counties, including Stearns and Anoka. This invasive species, identified by a white spot on its back, can transmit ehrlichiosis and cause alpha-gal syndrome, leading to allergic reactions to red meat and dairy. Symptoms include hives, nausea, and difficulty breathing. Residents are advised to take precautions against tick bites by wearing long sleeves and using permethrin on clothing.
