We begin a special three-part series on the critical situation in Haiti Haiti is currently facing an unprecedented crisis. Since the assassination of President Jovenel Moïse in 2021, the country has seen a dramatic surge in violence and instability. Over 300 criminal gangs control large portions of Port-au-Prince, leading to severe disruptions in daily life, widespread displacement, and a collapse of essential services. The United Nations reports that over 5.5 million people, including 3 million children, need urgent humanitarian assistance.
