Despite job growth, the region struggles to reach pre-pandemic employment levels, particularly in Nursing & Residential Care. The aging population increases the need for these jobs, but recruiting and retaining workers remains difficult. Social Assistance jobs have grown by 28%, helping offset declines in other areas. Improving job desirability through better wages and flexible shifts is essential for meeting the region’s healthcare needs.
