OTC Press Release 5/21/24 – The need for housing in Otter Tail County has spurred innovative solutions. The County’s Community Development Agency (CDA) is developing a new single-family housing project in Pelican Rapids, named Pinewood Estates. This comes after the completion of a new highway garage, leaving the former site at 208 NE 5th Street available for redevelopment. The Pinewood Estates subdivision will feature nine single-family lots. The CDA secured Minnesota Housing Impact Funding to support the construction of up to three entry-level homes. Site preparation is complete, and infrastructure installation for roads, water, and sewer will happen this summer, with lots ready for construction by fall 2024.
Pelican Rapids City Administrator Lance Roisum expressed gratitude for the CDA’s leadership, hoping this project will fill housing gaps and promote growth. CDA Board Chair Dave Schornack highlighted the importance of partnerships in expanding housing. The CDA will host open house meetings on May 28 and May 30 for interested community members.
