(MNN) – Minnesota State Patrol troopers are kicking off a new initiative to step up speed enforcement on rural roads. Throughout this spring and summer, each district will assign troopers to conduct high visibility patrols on problematic roadways now through September 2nd as part of the Rural Speed Reduction Project. Officials say fatal crashes are up almost 40 percent from this time last year.
