(Fergus Now) –  This year Fergus Falls celebrated their 46th year as a Tree City USA by planting 140 trees. Eight of those trees were planted in Grotto Park by representatives from the Park Board, the Natural Resources Advisory Committee and city staff. City Forrester Andy Nelson said of the trees in Grotto Park there are 3 varieties – four are disease resistant Triumph Elm, 2 are Common Hackberry and 2 are Northern Acclaim Honey Locust. The park was chosen because there were several Elm trees lost due to Dutch Elm Disease.
